Father’s Day Seafood Gifts Inspired by My Dad - Maine Lobster Now

Father’s Day Seafood Gifts Inspired by My Dad

April 2, 2024Steve

Father’s Day has always meant more to me than just another holiday on the calendar. My father helped me start Maine Lobster Now, and long before that, I worked for him for most of my life. I would not be where I am today without him.

Seafood was not just something we sold — it was what we knew, what we talked about, and what we grew up around. Some of my best memories come from working beside him, learning the seafood business, and selling the same kinds of products we still ship today: live lobster, lobster tails, crab legs, steamers, scallops, haddock, steaks for surf and turf, and lobster rolls.

This Father’s Day seafood gift guide is built around the products he and I both loved. These are the kinds of meals that feel memorable, familiar, and worth sharing with Dad and the whole family.

Surf & Turf Gifts for Dad

Surf and turf seafood meal with scallops

Surf and turf is one of the best Father’s Day meals because it feels special without being too complicated. Pair sweet Maine lobster or lobster tails with USDA Prime steak for a dinner that feels celebratory, hearty, and perfect for the grill.

I love cooking on the grill and mixing it up!  You'll see me throw a little of everything on there to make sure nobody goes hungry!

Start with our lobster tails, then add a USDA Prime Filet Mignon or USDA Prime Boneless Ribeye. You can also browse our full Father’s Day Favorites collection for easy gift ideas.

Fresh Live Lobster

Fresh live lobsters

For the dad who loves a true New England seafood experience, live Maine lobster is hard to beat. It’s hands-on, memorable, and perfect for Father’s Day dinner with the family.

Picked by: Both of us

Live lobster is one of the products I remember selling growing up, and it will always be one of the items most connected to my father and the seafood business he taught me.  Personally I like to grill them.

We ship live lobsters overnight so they arrive fresh and ready to cook. Choose smaller lobsters for a classic dinner or go big with larger lobsters if you want to make Father’s Day feel like an event. Need help cooking them? Follow our live lobster cooking guide.

Grill-Ready Lobster Tails

Grilled lobster tails

If you want the flavor of lobster without cooking live lobster, lobster tails are a perfect Father’s Day choice. They’re impressive, easy to portion, and excellent on the grill with butter, lemon, and simple seasoning.

I love these with a little garlic button on a charcoal grill.

Lobster tails are also one of the easiest ways to build a surf and turf meal. Serve them with steak, crab legs, shrimp, or scallops for a Father’s Day feast Dad won’t forget. For cooking tips, check out our lobster tail cooking guide.

USDA Prime Steaks

USDA Prime Black Angus ribeye steak

Seafood may be our specialty, but steak belongs at the Father’s Day table too. Our USDA Prime steaks make it easy to create a restaurant-style surf and turf dinner at home.

Picked by: Both of us!

My dad grew up and Kansas and taught me about various types of beef, including Angus, which is why I carry it.  We both love Angus beef, especially prime filet and ribeye!

Choose from USDA Prime Filet Mignon or USDA Prime Boneless Ribeye, then pair with lobster tails, crab legs, or shrimp for a Father’s Day dinner built for the grill.

Crab Legs for the Seafood Lover

Grilled king crab legs

If Dad loves rich, sweet crab meat, crab legs are a great Father’s Day gift. They feel indulgent, they’re easy to serve with melted butter, and they work well as either the main course or a premium side for a larger seafood feast.

Picked by: Julian

Crab legs are another classic seafood item I started selling when I started my online brand after my fathers passing.

Browse our crab selection for options like king crab legs, snow crab, Jonah crab, and other favorites. Pair crab legs with steak, lobster tails, or shrimp for a full Father’s Day spread.

Steamers

Steamers are one of those old-school New England seafood items that always remind me of family meals and the seafood business I grew up in. They’re simple, briny, and best served with melted butter, broth, and plenty of napkins.

Picked by: Julian

I just love steamers and sometimes I eat them as a meal by themselves!

If Dad enjoys classic Maine seafood, steamers make a great addition to a Father’s Day order. Serve them before live lobster, alongside crab legs, or as part of a bigger seafood spread.

Haddock

Thick Haddock Fillet

My father liked haddock, and it deserves a spot on this list. It’s mild, flaky, and easy to prepare, making it a great choice for dads who love seafood but want something a little lighter than lobster or steak.

Picked by: Dad

Growing up, my father always cook us haddock.  Its quick and easy and everyone loves it!

Haddock works well baked, pan-seared, or served with simple sides like roasted vegetables, potatoes, rice, or a fresh salad. Browse our fish selection to add haddock or other seafood favorites to Dad’s Father’s Day meal.

Shrimp, Scallops & Grill Favorites

Fresh Maine scallops

Looking for easy add-ons to round out the meal? Shrimp and scallops are perfect for Father’s Day grilling, appetizers, or quick side dishes. They’re simple to prepare and help turn a few main items into a complete feast.

Picked by: Dad

I remember my dad cooking scallops for breakfast!  I like scallops but man he loved them more than I did!  He used to eat them raw lol!

Add shrimp, fresh Maine scallops, or salmon to Dad’s seafood gift to make the meal feel even more complete.

Lobster Roll Kits

Lobster Roll Kit - 6 Pack from Maine Lobster Now

For an easy Father’s Day lunch or backyard meal, our Lobster Roll Kit keeps things simple. It comes with the essentials to make six lobster rolls, including cooked lobster meat, rolls, mayo, butter, and chips.

Picked by: Julian

I probably serve lobster rolls at my house more than anything in the summer.  I always do celery and dill pickles to give it a little crunch on a bed of crunchy lettuce.

For a little twist, try making dill lobster rolls. Add lettuce under the lobster, then mix the lobster meat with mayo, a little celery, and chopped dill pickles. Finish with fresh dill on top.

Seafood Starters & Sides

Stuffed clams in natural shells

Want to make the meal feel even more complete? Add seafood starters and sides to Dad’s gift. Options like stuffed clams in the half shell, seafood appetizers, or classic sides can help round out the table.

Picked by: Julian

I found this product after sampling all the stuffed clams in the northeast.  Anytime these come out of the oven there are none left!

You can also browse our starters and sides to build a complete Father’s Day meal.

Don’t Forget the Tools

If Dad is cracking lobster or crab, make sure he has the basics. Add butter warmers, shell crackers, or lobster bibs to make the meal easier and more fun.

Remembering My Father This Father’s Day

I would not be where I am today without my father. He helped me start Maine Lobster Now, taught me the seafood business, and gave me the foundation that made this company possible.
