Cooked shrimp, raw shrimp or colossal prawns?

Cooked cocktail shrimp: thaw and serve

Bay Winds cocktail shrimp are fully cooked, peeled and deveined, with approximately 16–20 shrimp per pound: about 32–40 per 2 lb. pack. They are farm-raised in Southeast Asia; check the package for the specific country. Thaw as directed for a chilled platter or salad.

Raw peeled Pacific white shrimp: cook in your recipe

Bay Winds Pacific white shrimp are raw, peeled and top-deveined, with approximately 13–15 per pound: about 26–30 per pack. Sourced from Southeast Asia, they suit sautéing, grilling, pasta and stir-fries. Refer to the label for country of origin. They must be cooked before eating.

Colossal black tiger prawns: large and shell-on

Black tiger prawns are farm-raised in India and supplied raw, shell-on, easy-peel and deveined. The 6–8 per pound size gives approximately 12–16 prawns in a 2 lb. pack. Choose them for a larger presentation and recipes that start with raw prawns.

Read shrimp counts before planning portions

A lower count per pound means larger individual shrimp. Counts are approximate, while the pack is sold by weight. Shell-on prawn weight includes the shell, so equal pack weights do not mean equal amounts of peeled shrimp. Match the format to your recipe and whether shrimp are a starter or main dish.

Keep frozen until needed and follow the selected product's thawing instructions. Raw shrimp and prawns require cooking; cooked cocktail shrimp can be served after thawing as directed. Add your own cocktail sauce, lemon or recipe ingredients unless the selected package specifically includes them. Current delivery dates and charges appear at checkout.
