The Health Benefits of Swordfish
Seafood is widely regarded by medical experts and dieticians to be healthy and provide nutritional benefits not found in other meat sources. While salmon is often widely publicized for its health benefits, in general, most fish species are also low in calories and fat, but high in protein, vitamins, and minerals.
Swordfish has 120 calories and 6.7 grams of fat per every 3 oz. serving, but provides 20 grams of protein. Swordfish is also a valuable source of vitamin D, potassium, magnesium, zinc, and the antioxidant selenium, as well as being high in omega-3 fatty acids which help lower the risk of cardiovascular disease, some types of cancer, dementia, and Alzheimer’s.

- Cover baking dish with plastic wrap and let marinate in refrigerator for 30-120 minutes. Turn over halfway through.
- When marinated, heat grill to high with rack positioned 3-4 inches from heat. Brush rack with olive oil and place swordfish on grill.
- Grill for 2 minutes. Turn fish 45 degrees to create crosshatch grill marks. Grill 2 additional minutes then turn over. Grill 3 more minutes.
- If knife enters the flesh with no resistance, your swordfish is done.
